Mario is a retired Field Artillery Major from the Texas Army National Guard with 26 years of military service including combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most notable among the many awards he received are the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf cluster, NATO Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf clusters, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

He served as a Field Artillery Battery Commander; Commander, Chemical Site Defense Force; Brigade Assistant Fire Support Officer; Brigade Force Protection Officer-in-Charge; Field Artillery Battalion Operations Officer; Field Artillery Battalion Executive Officer; Commander, Security Force Advisory Team; and a Division Field Artillery Future Ops Planner. Among his postings were Victory Base Camp, Baghdad, Iraq and Kandahar City, Afghanistan.

Mario received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&I University and his MBA in International Entrepreneurship from St. Mary’s University.
